Propshafts

Propshafts are mechanical elements which transfer the energy produced by the engine to the driving wheels of the vehicle. They also connect the gearbox to the differential and they generally consists of a shaft with grooved joints: these joints compensate for the displacements among the elements connected during the suspension oscillations. Propshafts are used on front engined vehicles and rear drive, namely on most vehicles on the market.
